Financial Accountability You Can Count On
As a Certified Financial Planner, Ruth knows how to make every dollar work. She believes that strong financial oversight and transparent management of resources are essential to ensuring that every school has the support it needs. Ruth will ensure budgets are responsible, priorities are clear, and taxpayer resources go where they matter most — directly to students.
Empowering Educators, Elevating Students
Ruth will work to empower educators at every level — from the superintendent to classroom teachers — to deliver academic excellence, foster social responsibility, and build strength of character in every child. She understands that the Board's role is to set the vision, establish strong policy, and hold leadership accountable — not to manage day-to-day operations. That means hiring and supporting a superintendent who leads with excellence, and getting out of the way so great teaching can happen.
Governing with Transparency and Purpose
As a School Board member, Ruth will govern as part of a united body on behalf of every family in District 2. Her commitments include:
Setting sound, student-centered policy that reflects community values
Approving responsible budgets that prioritize the classroom
As School Board team member, together as one, they will build a support system and evaluating the superintendent to ensure visionary, accountable leadership
Engaging the community as a true partner in education
A Life Devoted to Family and Community
As a mother of five and grandmother of fifteen, Ruth doesn't just talk about putting students first — she lives it. Her personal and professional life reflects a lifelong commitment to family, hard work, and giving back. She brings that same dedication to every decision she makes.
Together, We Build Stronger Schools
Ruth believes in the power of teamwork. She is committed to working alongside fellow board members, the superintendent, school administrators, teachers, and families to deliver excellence to every student in DeKalb County — because when our schools succeed, our entire community thrives.
